Senior King & Queen
2019 SENIOR KING & QUEEN
Matt & Marlene Meyer
Both lifelong residents of Pemberville, Matt & Marlene Meyer are the Senior King & Queen of the 75th Pemberville Free Fair. They met while attending Eastwood high School and married after completion of college. After receiving his Electrical Contracting education, Matt worked for Lowen Meyer in Luckey, Ohio for nearly 18 years. In 1995 Matt purchased the business upon Lowen’s retirement and has continued the business for 24 years as Matthew R. Meyer Electrical Contracting, Inc. After receiving her degree in accounting, Marlene was hired in 1977 by the Pemberville Elevator Assn., now Countyline Co-op. She has remained there for 42 years working with our farming community. Their marriage has blessed them with three children and eight grandchildren. Matt proudly employs both sons, Aaron (Nadine) Meyer and Ben (Carla) Meyer in the electric contracting business.
Daughter Julie (Zach) Walker is a freelance graphic designer in Pittsburgh. These three children have blessed them with eight grandchildren: Livia, Delilah, Jackson, Liam, Easton, Maverick, Charlie and Matilda. At Bethlehem Lutheran Church Matt has served as Deacon, Elder, and Past President of the Congregation. Marlene has served as Educational Secretary Chair and Mission Action Stewardship Chair for the BLCW. Both are experienced Sunday school teachers. Several events of the Pemberville Fair benefit from their volunteer hours. Scouting in Pemberville is synonymous with their names. Matt has lead Troop #344 for 40 years with the assistance of many great individuals and of course Marlene being one of them! Matt is proud of the youth development in our village. He credits community involvement and leadership within Pemberville.
Matt enjoys reading, fishing, camping, and lots of hiking. Marlene sang with the Hot Flashes for nine years before retiring to enjoy sewing, cooking, and even tap dancing. Their favorite past time is family and their grandchildren.
